Neal Payton has been invited by the Mayor of Los Angeles to participate on the Advisory Committee for the Great Streets Initiative. Mayor Eric Garcetti recently announced the creation of the Great Streets Initiative focusing on specific improvements to defined corridors throughout Los Angeles. A Federal Promise Grant that has been awarded to the City will fund these efforts.
In creating the Great Streets Initiative through issuance of an Executive Directive, Mayor Garcetti said “We are taking another big step towards a fundamental change in how we perceive, interact, and build around us. A great neighborhood needs a great street as its backbone, and, as city leaders, we need the backbone to make the bold changes necessary to build great streets.”
The Great Streets Program will involve coordination between various city departments, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
