Fort Belvoir Town Center

Fort Belvoir, Virginia

The Town Center is part of the larger Fort Belvoir Housing Revitalization project developed by Clark Pinnacle Family Communities and the Department of the Army under the Army's Residential Communities Initiative. In what is truly a mixed use neighborhood, the Fort Belvoir Family Housing Master Plan has provided housing above retail, which is the first of its kind on a military installation. This housing, combined with the mix of retail uses below, and a well crafted and articulated streetscape design, are the first steps to creating a main street along the central east/west connecting road of the Post. This main street provides an identifiable central destination supplementing the existing public and retail services including two chapels, a gym facility, child care center, and the central library.

With the exception of the historic and historically significant homes, and the 217 homes already revitalized at Dogue Creek Village, the majority of the existing houses at Fort Belvoir had exceeded their useful life and no longer provided comfortable, functional homes for residents which are comparable to homes in the local area market. These obsolete houses are being torn down and replaced with new homes that have modern features, high quality materials and amenities that exceed military and market standards.
The Fort Belvoir Town Center is currently featured in an article published by the International Council of Shopping Centers entitled Military Base Gives Mixed Use a Shot.
