Transpotomac Canal Center
Alexandria, Virginia
Transpotomac Canal Center consists of four buildings in a pinwheel shaped cluster along the west bank of the Potomac River in suburban Washington, DC.
Project highlights enjoyed by the public are the extensively landscaped riverwalk with bike path and plaza promenade featuring a permanent outdoor sculpture installation. The project also incorporates the restored Alexandria Canal Lock #1, which is open to the public as a municipal museum.
Designed to capitalize on their unique setting, the four buildings mix traditional brick facades to blend with the Old Town cityscape and terraced all-glass fronts to capture and reflect the waterfront vistas.
