Baywood-Duneside Village

Long Neck, DE

Long Neck, Delaware

The Baywood-Duneside Village is designed reminiscent of the urban design used at St. Andrew's, Scotland, the birthplace of golf. The Village, including a Town Center and residential neighborhoods, is artfully situated along a new golf course and is crafted as a front door public space. The golf course, with its village shop and home front perimeter, routes throughout the community allowing residents and visitors to experience the course and create an urbane backdrop.

The Village Center is the heart of the community and includes retail space, a 100-room inn, conference center, large lawn and tent for open-air events, residential units, a large recreation facility, a village square, plaza, and green. The meandering edges of the village face the course and create an informal character.

A gorgeous view of the Village Center can be seen when approaching the site from Route 24. The view spans across the golf course including its ponds and colorful perennial beds. Residents and visitors can access the Village Center by crossing a stone bridge that crosses the golf course and continues along Main Street.

The Inn, with its two-story porch, anchors the southern end of Main Street . The neighborhoods are composed of intermixed small lot homes, large lot homes, duplexes, and town houses that create an interesting and varied streetscape. The gridded street network creates a highly walkable community and provides future connection points to the adjacent parcels. In addition to the golf course, the residential neighborhoods contain a sequence of linked green spaces located in close proximity to all of the homes, many of which contain existing trees that will be saved. At the head of one of these spaces is the community center and pool that will serve the residents.
