Catalina Heights Community Center

Camarillo, CA

Camarillo, California

Torti Gallas and Partners worked with Clark Builders Group and Lincoln Management Co. to design a community living room for the Military Family Neighborhood in the City of Camarillo. Designed in a Spanish Mediterranean style, the Community Center has a rich tapestry of decorative Spanish tiles and terracotta ornaments, low pitched tile roofs, decorative openings, tile-capped parapet walls, wrought iron window grilles, and deep recessed windows. When you make your way inside, one is taken aback by the soaring double height space in the Great Room, which employs the prodigious use of high windows to bring natural sunlight into the space.

This facility incorporates sustainable design and materials in order to obtain LEED Silver standing. At a generous 6,500 square feet, the building provides a host of amenities for military families, including a neighborhood Living (Great) Room, Business Center, Fitness Center, Game Room, and Children’s Room. Given the sunny climate in Southern California, the main building and cabanas enclose a unique neighborhood swimming pool for year round use on one side, and an open area with BBQ grills on the other.
