Project Description

Torti Gallas designed this mixed-use, transit-oriented development above the Georgia Avenue/ Petworth Metro Station along Georgia Avenue in Washington, DC.  Advertised and awarded through the District of Columbia’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, the project provides a vibrant new neighborhood center with ample street-front retail and five levels of residential apartments above.

The development team was led by Donatelli & Klein, Inc., the developers for The Ellington Apartments at 13th & U Streets and two large mixed-use projects at 14th and Irving Streets, NW in Columbia Heights, all designed by Torti Gallas.

The development contains apartments above retail space, with additional fee simple townhouse units along 9th Street, NW.  A portion of the apartments are set aside for affordable housing (30% to 60% of the area median income). Park Place, the first new apartment building constructed along Georgia Avenue in decades, has become a catalyst for revitalization of the area.
