Project Description

Prior to the redevelopment, the property had two DC-owned buildings which had been previously used for a community health center. Both buildings had been vacant for years and were in a state of disrepair.

Design of the Spring Flats campus was a collaborative effort between the design and development teams, the DC government, and the surrounding community. An extensive campaign of community outreach and engagement was undertaken with local community groups, the elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissions, and direct neighbors to fully understand and accommodate community concerns. The result is a consensus solution that provides new affordable homes for residents, helping to implement the DC government’s goals of housing those in need.
